Utah Education Network (UEN)
- UEN provides key online and broadcast services for both higher and public education. It has earned national and international recognition for its educational innovation and services.
- UEN’s high-speed data network connects Utah public schools, colleges, universities, and libraries via a state-of-the-art 10-gigabit network backbone from multiple competitive vendors. The network carries mission critical health, medical and academic data 10 colleges and universities, 115 public libraries, 42 school districts and 375,000 students.
- UEN facilitates live, interactive courses via Web-based conferencing and to over 400 classroom sites.
- Educators at all levels learn how to integrate technology in their classrooms with UEN’s free professional development courses. These popular classes are available in person, face-to-face, and via UEN-TV. Courses are offered in Salt Lake City and “on the road” throughout the state.
- The Pioneer Library brings thousands of credible online resources to students, teachers, and citizens throughout the state. Included are hundreds of publications and thousands of full-text articles, charts, maps, and graphics. The new Pre-School Pioneer library is specifically designed for three-to-five-year-olds and their parents.
- More than 13,000 video, audio, and text resources are available to Utah schools and colleges through UEN’s Digital Media Service.
- With the advent of digital television, UEN-TV now offers twice the programming of a single analog channel. UEN-TV Digital 9.1 provides hobby, how-to, instructional TV and college telecourses. UEN-TV Digital 9.2 broadcasts MHz Worldview, a 24-hour stream of international news and culture programs all in English or with English captions. The Utah Education Network operates the station on behalf of the Utah System of Higher Education, the Utah State Office of Education, and Utah learners of all ages.
Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC)
- More than 270 interactive sites make up the IVC system
- The IVC system provides one-way video and two-way audio for course delivery to
over 90 sites throughout the state
