Eateries

  • The Chase N. Peterson Heritage Dining Room offers our resident and commuter dining programs. Heritage Center is also open to public to come in and eat. The style of service is “all you care to eat” for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The program includes made-to-order sandwiches, salads, wok, and grill items along with full entrée options for vegetarians and vegans. Resident Dining Programs are purchased through HRE while the Commuter Dining Programs can be purchased at the Heritage Dining Room, Chartwells main office at 30 A. Ray Olpin Union or online at HYPERLINK  www.dineoncampus.com/utah.
  • The A. Ray Olpin Union houses a food court that provides a variety of options from salad bar, fresh made sandwiches, Pizza Hut, sushi, Coyote Jack burgers, Chilitos Mexican, and Mandalay Express Asian cuisine. There is also a convenience store with specialty coffees, candy, soda and other snack items. Other retail locations on campus include Outtakes at the Marriott Library, the 105 Café in the Annex building, Moran Eye Center, Social & Behavioral Science Building, Physics building and England Hub at the Health Sciences Building.
  • The A. Ray Olpin Union also is the location for our full-service restaurant, the Crimson View, located on the 4th floor. Resident dining programs that include transfer meals and flex dollars allow students to use their meal plan to dine at the Crimson View while enjoying one of the best views in the valley.

Visitor Parking

Parking is available at pay lots east of the University Union, north of the Student Services Building, east of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, and south of the University Bookstore. Metered parking is available on a limited basis. Day passes for permit lots may be purchased at pay lots or at Commuter Services (1901 E. South Campus Drive, 801-581-6415). Campus Shuttles

Daily shuttles are in service from 6 a.m. -10 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on holidays. Shuttle routes serve different areas of campus. Utah Transit Authority (UTA)

  • Faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students may ride free on UTA buses and TRAX with a current UTA Ed Pass and accompanying UCard. The annual Ed pass is available at the customer service counter at the Campus Store, the Commuter Services office located in the west wing of the Annex, and the UCard offices in the Union and the University Hospital.   • Light Rail: The University TRAX east-west line runs between the Energy Solutions Arena (connecting to the north-south lines) and the health sciences complex. Some express trains starting at the Sandy station (north-south line) run directly to the university

The Lowell Bennion Community Service Center fosters lifelong service and civic participation by engaging the University with the greater community in action, change and learning. Each year more than 6,300 U of U students, staff, faculty and alumni provide more than 195,000 hours of service with community and non-profit organizations through direct volunteer work and service-learning opportunities. Bennion Center programs include: Alternative Spring & Fall Break Trips, International Service Trips, Student-Directed Volunteer Programs, Service-Learning Courses, the Service-Learning Scholars Program, America Reads, Bend-in-the-River and the Bennion Service House, as well as monthly forums, dialogues, service projects and more. The Bennion Center’s diverse programming ensures there is an opportunity for everyone to become engaged.
